Supplierpipeline's JacPac
Written by Jude Herr
Friday, 14 March 2008

jacpac_case.jpgThe folks over at ToolSnob.com did a great review awhile back on the Supplierpipeline's JacPac. Rather than duplicate their efforts, here's the lowdown and link:

"We've been interested in Supplierpipeline's JacPac ever since we first laid eyes on it last month. It's a little portable pneumatic power source that clips on your belt, making you a one man mobile nailing army. It seemed to us that this might be one of those tools that really could change the way you work. Just imagine what it would be like to have all the ease and versatility of your nail guns without all the weight, noise, and hassle of the compressor setup. But we also had a nagging feeling that this whole thing would be a bit of a gimmick, that it wouldn't shoot nails very well, or that it be poorly made and fall apart after the first use. Well, thanks to the nice folks at Supplierpipeline, we got the opportunity to test one out and here's what we found."

More exciting news from Bosch...

Bosch’s BruteTough™ Story Gets Even Better with Launch of Second-Generation Tools:
New tools run longer, drive faster and take more punishment!

Mount Prospect, Ill., February 6, 2008
The Bosch Brute Tough™ family of cordless hammer drills and drill drivers became a toolbox staple following its launch in 2002.

The complete second-generation BruteTough lineup includes:
* 15618 18V hammer drill/Driver
* 15614 14.4V Hammer Drill/Driver
* 35618 18V Drill/Driver * 35614 14.4V Drill/Driver

Professional craftsmen, initially drawn in by Bosch’s legendary Drop Zone demos, grew to depend on the tools’ industry-leading performance, game-changing durability and outstanding battery quality. This year, Bosch Power Tools and Accessories adds a new and ever more impressive chapter to the story with the debut of four new products bearing the BruteTough name. Built around Bosch’s jobsite proven BlueCore™ Ni-Cad battery platform, the second-generation BruteTough products illustrate the company’s continuing commitment to producing top-notch products specifically designed to meet the needs of end-users.

“BruteTough isn’t just a brand name for Bosch,” says product manager Andrew Cho. “To earn the BruteTough label, a cordless tool has to be tougher, faster, longer lasting. This is a distinction we take very seriously.”

The new Bosch BruteTough lineup features tools purpose-built not only to outperform their predecessors, but also to outperform the competition. The 15618 18V BruteTough hammer drill/driver, for example, runs 500 RPM faster, delivers 50 in/lbs more torque and offers a two-times increase in BPM compared to the Bosch 13618-2G it replaces. Compared to the competition, Bosch’s 15618 drills up to 35 percent faster in wood and up to 63 percent faster in masonry, concrete and sheet metal – all while the patented BlueCore battery pack gives users up to 89 percent more run time. The other three tools in the BruteTough family deliver similar class-by-class comparisons.

Milwaukee 7155-21 Narrow Crown Stapler just $59.99
Written by Jude Herr
Thursday, 13 March 2008

milwaukee_7155-21.jpgHere's yet another deal at Toolking.com. You may be wondering why I post so many of Toolking's deals. Well, I get the scoop from TK marketing on what the purchasing guy just got a great deal on from the manufacturers - and what they are going to price it at. So I figure I should pass it along to you as quickly as I can, in case it's something that you are in the market for.

This week's deal is the Milwaukee 7155-21, an 18 gauge 1/4" Narrow Crown Stapler Kit for $59. We like this pneumatic crown Stapler because it has a powerful oil-free motor which eliminates the need for daily oiling. It has an ultra lightweight magnesium housing and a removeable belt hook which makes it easy to carry around all day long. Combine that with an ergonomic grip, and the 7155-21 Crown Stapler offers great control, comfort and maneuverability. This tool will make all your trim jobs a joy...

Milwaukee's 7155-21 Narrow Crown Stapler also has a unique reload indicator which prevents missing nails in trim work and damage to finer woods. The trigger lets you choose sequential or contact actuation by simply turning a knob. The bottom loading Magazine lets you quickly load and unload fasteners and can hold 101 staples in 3/8 in. to 1-1/2 in. lengths. The self-cleaning air filter extends the life of the stapler by preventing dirt and debris from entering the tool and like most Nailers and staplers, it has a tool-free depth of drive adjustment. The 7155-21 crown stapler has an adjustable rear air deflector with a muffler that directs exhaust away from the work area and keeps the noise down.

ros20vsk_hero.jpgThis just in from Bosch:

Bosch Random Orbit Sanders Set Many New Benchmarks

Mount Prospect, Ill., January 25, 2008 –Two new sanders, the Bosch ROS20VS and the ROS10, coming out this spring from Bosch Power Tools and Accessories incorporate significant refinements to just about every detail of a palm-grip Random Orbit sander, putting them at forefront of this important and growing sander category. The Bosch ROS20VS and the ROS10 are designed to give even the most exacting finish carpenters, cabinet makers, woodworkers and others exactly what they want, beginning with great performance and results. The optimized combination of pad orbit and rotation delivers fast removal and a well-blended, ultra-smooth finish. Bosch’s integral pad dampening system, a pad braking system, is designed to eliminate the most common complaint of random Orbit Sander users – swirl marks on the workpiece. Finish quality is further enhanced with the use of a soft microcellular backing pad. The pliable pad ensures a smooth, fine finish on flat or contoured surfaces.

Turn Your Regular Drill into a Right Angle Drill
Written by Jude Herr
Wednesday, 12 March 2008

rad_attachment.jpgGot a tight corner or a right angle to screw? Then you should check out Milwaukee's heavy duty RAD Right Angle Drill attachment. The RAD 49-22-8510 works on any cordless 2.4 volt drill or larger and will fit any 1/4" inch or larger chuck. That pretty much covers all the drills out there.

Measuring only 2 inches wide, It's small enough to fit into tight spaces, and yet powerful enough to handle up to 235 inch-pounds of torque. The RAD will take 1/4" hex drive accessories including screwdriver bits, hex drive bits, twist drill bits, flat boring bits, extensions and chuck adapters.

According to Milwaukee, contractors are raving about this product: “An electrician who recently purchased the RAD told me that the few times he has already had to use it, it’s been worth its weight in gold,” said Mike Kirby, product manager-accessories for Milwaukee. “The electrician has been recommending it to everyone he works with.”

Don't want to spend the 50 bucks on the heavy duty Milwaukee RAD? Then for $10, you should check out GRIP tools 35422 Right Angle Drill attachment. It works similarly than the Milwaukee 49-22-8510 but I can pretty much guarantee you that it won't drill the heavy-duty stuff nor last as long. But if you're just looking for a Right angle drill attachment for a few around the house tasks, then the GRIP 35422 is a good inexpensive option for you.
