April 28, 2008 – La Mirada, Calif. –
Makita U.S.A., Inc., manufacturer of high quality industrial power tools and accessories, is proud to announce the release of its new 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Impact Driver, model BTD141. This powerful impact driver delivers more work (1,330 in. lbs. of max. torque) yet weighs just 3.4 lbs. The BTD141 is another example of Makita’s commitment to innovative technology and best-in-class engineering.
“The BTD140, our previous 18 volt Lithium-Ion cordless impact driver, became the industry standard,” said Brad Wheeler, Makita product manager. “With the new BTD141 we’ve added more power and made it easier to use with a “one-touch” chuck, yet we kept the weight and the price the same. The BTD141 will become the new industry standard.”
Why fiddle with that cumbersome and
messy old chalkline when you can draw a line with coherent light?!
The DeWalt DW087K Line Laser is both a Level and a chalkline and it's
just plain cool! Just push a button and the DeWalt DW087K draws you a
level plane, automatically. In this video Toologics Editor Rick Peil
shows you how!
In this Toologics.com Video, Rick is showing of the DeWalt DW745. For the Contractor on the go, this compact portable table saw can be a great help. Even while making this show, we didn't bother loading this DeWalt Table Saw onto a dolly. We carried The DW745 from building to building by hand!
March's WOOD Magazine has a fantastic article entitled "Dust collectors Under $400" written by Bob Hunter and Jeff Hall that goes very in-depth about dust collection. These guys played with fifteen different dust collectors and ultimately awarded the Delta 50-760
the "excellent" rating in every one of the performance categories that they tested, concluding that the 50-760 is one of the best sub-$400 dust collectors that money can buy. They particularly liked the simple bag change system, 1-micron filter bag and the fact that it runs off of a standard 110V hookup, and they discovered that the 50-760 achieved the highest maximum CFM of all of the dust collectors that they tested.
The article is very comprehensive and well-written, so you should definitely go check it out!
Also, be sure to have a look at the Delta 50-760 at ToolKing.com, where it can be had for $329.99...but don't forget to take advantage of the new $50 mail-in rebate for it, which brings the total price down to $279.99 plus $7.99 shipping! Go grab the rebate form here. The rebate is valid unti July 31st, 2008.
Finally, have a look at Rick Peil's rundown of the Delta 50-760 below:
It's Woodworking Safety Week folks, May 5th-9th, officially declared this year by Marc Spagnoli, aka: The WoodWhisperer.
In honor of this ancient tradition, we will visit old internet friends and forums, tip back a few (after we are done in the shop of course) and post a Safety Article or video each day of this week.
Criss Angel, a popular illusionist famous for his surreal magic show "Mindfreak " on A&E recently executed an illusion that I thought be perfect to feature on Toologics: walking across screwdrivers.
Can you say "ouch"?
Criss used a dozen 18" long flathead screwdrivers, point up, and walked across them barefoot. To up the ante, the surrounding area was filled with broken glass, ensuring a brutal conclusion if he fell from the tips of the screwdrivers. Furthermore, the entire illusion was performed in an open air plaza, surrounded by downtown Las Vegas tourists.
How'd he do it?Is it amazing pain tolerance? Some sort of gimmick? Watch this video and judge for yourself. Warning...not for the squeamish!
Criss Angel is currently working with Canadian performance group Cirque du Soleil to create a magic-themed Cirque du Soleil show at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas. The show, called BELIEVE
opens this fall and will run for at least ten years. I don't see how it could be any less than totally awesome.
