For smaller jobs, a breaking hammer (also called chipping hammers) can get the job done quickly and easily. These smaller versions of a jackhammer are lighter and often easy to pick up and use overhead.

For example, the Makita HM1202C on the left is a small, 20 lb breaking hammer that is light enough for some light destruction. Say the corner of your driveway is cracked and flaking, and you want to break it out, the Makita would be perfect.

If you’re looking for something a little bigger with a lot more bite, take amakitademolitionhammer2.jpg look at the Makita HM1500B, which has an impact energy of 25 ft lbs and only weighs 42 lbs total. Its special idling mechanism reduces hammering while idling, and also features a side handle that swivels 360 degrees for ease and comfort while causing destruction! This hammer would be used for more than just breaking out a small corner of a driveway.
