Bosch Random Orbit Sanders Set Many New Benchmarks
Mount Prospect, Ill., January 25, 2008 –Two new sanders, the Bosch ROS20VS and the ROS10, coming out this spring from Bosch Power Tools and Accessories incorporate significant refinements to just about every detail of a palm-grip Random Orbit sander, putting them at forefront of this important and growing sander category. The Bosch ROS20VS and the ROS10 are designed to give even the most exacting finish carpenters, cabinet makers, woodworkers and others exactly what they want, beginning with great performance and results. The optimized combination of pad orbit and rotation delivers fast removal and a well-blended, ultra-smooth finish. Bosch’s integral pad dampening system, a pad braking system, is designed to eliminate the most common complaint of random Orbit Sander users – swirl marks on the workpiece. Finish quality is further enhanced with the use of a soft microcellular backing pad. The pliable pad ensures a smooth, fine finish on flat or contoured surfaces.
Both sanders are designed to deliver years of trouble-free operation. The ROS20VS and the ROS10 are built around a sturdy 2.2 amp motor to provide significant power, consistent speed, and long life in almost any sanding environment.
And Bosch’s new HookTight™ disc attachment system firmly grips standard hook-and-loop sanding discs over extended periods. HookTight’s 35,000 long-life hooks (up to 2X the standard number of hooks) are shorter and have a special gripping geometry. This makes it difficult for dust to get between the disc and the hooks and weaken the grip. In addition, HookTight hooks are made to withstand high temperatures better than standard hooks, resulting in a dramatic improvement in the life of the backing pad.
While performance and reliability are important, the time associated with sanding tasks makes user comfort critical. That’s why Bosch developed an advanced ergonomic sander body and one of the most sophisticated sander dust collection systems on the market.
The Bosch Microfilter System is optimized for filtering fine dust, trapping particles as small as a half micron in diameter, which is less than 60 times smaller than a human hair. The system’s unique translucent, twist-off dust canister enables users to easily see dust Level, and the anti-spillback design helps keep the dust where it belongs, inside the canister. Both sanders include an adapter that allows them to easily connect to most wet/dry vacuum cleaner hoses for maximum dust collection efficiency.
The Bosch ROS20VS and the ROS10 also deliver best-in-class ergonomics. The housings are designed to provide outstanding comfort when gripped in a wide array of locations on the top or body. Both sanders come with a dust canister, vacuum hose adapter and sanding disc and are covered by a one-year warranty. The ROS20VSK kit also includes a carrying case.
