question: Why do you have to have it?
answer: no cartridges to buy, ever.

The DC608K can shoot 5/8"-2" brad nails in any place that you need to get to without an air compressor to drag you down and no extra gas cartridges to purchase. Firing up to 800 1-1/4" nails in one charge, you basically get the quality and durability of a DeWalt power tool with portability and power as the frosting on the cake. The DC608k is part of the XRP DeWalt cordless system which means that all the batteries are interchangeable and the battery design allows the tool to work as fast as the end user with consistent nail penetration into both soft and hard joints. If you have the NANO battery, it is also compatible with these cordless tools.

Other features of the DeWalt DC608K include easy access to the nosepiece for the removal of jammed nails without the use of screwdrivers or tool Wrenches, a contact trip lock-off that disables the trigger when not in use and is easy to engage or to dis-engage, a built-in LED light, a 12-position dial that allows the user to move between applications without having to re-acquire exact depth setting, AND a fully enclosed, box style Magazine to keep dust and debris out of the magazine so the tool doesn't malfunction.

Purchased as the kit, the DC608k comes with the XRP battery, one-hour charger, built-in LED light, reversible belt hook, DeWalt safety glasses and a heavy duty storage case. DeWalt has added this nailer to their collection of other XRP cordless Nailers such as the DC616K straight finish nailer, the DC618k 20-degree angle finish nailer and the DC628 34-degree angle finish nailer. Check out the DeWalt website for more info.
