We just received word of an
interesting new generator from DeWalt. Instead of the old-fashioned
pull-cord, the DG6300B Generator features push-button start. We
know what you're thinking: "push-button start is nothing new", and
you are totally right. However until now, all Generators that had
this feature had a small lead-acid battery to power the starting
motor. The bad thing about lead-acid batteries is that they tend to
die after periods of unuse. If you need a generator in a hurry (or
worse yet, an emergency) and haven't used it in a few months,
you'll have a hard time getting it going without jump-starting it.
This is where the DG6300B generator differs. Instead of a
lead-acid starter battery, the DG6300B's starter motor is powered
by a DeWalt 18v rechargeable battery! Now, dead generator starter
batteries will be a thing of the past.
No word yet if the generator will also charge the battery, but
as this functionality has been built into previous DeWalt
multitaskers, like the DC022
Worklight or DC011 Radio
Charger, it would come as no surprise.
If DeWalt's model numbering scheme is consistent with their
other generator offerings, we expect the DG6300B to have a maximum
output capacity of 6300 watts.
DeWalt has indicated that the DG6300B will be available in July
2007. We'll keep you posted when we find out more about this cool
new generator.
