The Fein Multimaster - Tool of the Day Print E-mail

I have “just discovered the only-tool-i-would-ever-need” syndrome. You know how it is, you find a great tool that you could use for everything and you want to tell everyone about it. Good thing I write for this column.

I have recently welcomed into my life the Fein MultiMaster – Home Renovation and Remodeling System.  An extraordinary, one-of-a-kind tool, it will save you an average of 70% off your task time. And if that sounds like a sales Pitch, quite frankly, it is.

This Fein MultiMaster is a universal power tool that can handle the most time consuming and space confining jobs. It has a unique oscillating action that is powerful and also allows the user maximum control for accuracy in fine detail work. In simple terms, this tool rocks!

The Fein MultiMaster is not just another detail sander – although it is the perfect tool for fine sanding. It can be used as a jamb saw to make space for floor tile and also used as a tame, lightweight and accurate sawsall. It can be used to polish stone and remove the cloudy finish that accumulates on your headlights, scrape paint, remove grout and sand hard to reach areas. It can be used for window renovation and auto restoration, flush cut plugs and fine cut trim. It can be used in your home and on your boat, for your car and wait – here’s more:

The MultiMaster comes in a variety of models. The Standard MultiMaster (basic model) comes with a one speed motor and the basic attachments. I recommend that you spend an extra $50 and upgrade to the next model, which has a variable speed, 160 watt motor. This tool is more effective on sensitive materials like soft woods and plastics because you can lower the rate of oscillation and thus have more control. The next grade up is the SuperCut model which comes with a variable speed, 400 watt motor. This powerful motor makes quick work of cutting rougher and/or harder materials.

This versatile Power Tool has wide variety of applications which make it the perfect tool for the general contractor, homeowner/handyman, specialty contractor, automotive worker, furniture and boat refinisher, tile worker etc. The price makes it affordable for most everyone.

Fein also makes a Dust Extractor Vacuum that attaches directly to the MultiMaster (and their other Power Tools) for a cleaner, safer work environment. Wood and materials dust can contain chemicals, carcinogens and fungi which can be inhaled into the lungs causing illness and/or permanent damage (see: Modern Dust Collection Systems: This Ain’t Your Momma’s Vacuum).

How does it compare to others of its kind? There are no others of its kind. Simple as that. There is really no other company (some secret whisperings but no solid product yet) that makes the same kind of multi-use tool as the Fein MultiMaster.

Do you have a Fein MultiMaster? What is the most obscure application that you have used it for? (Carving pumpkins is already on the list)
