Festool just sent us a brief faq about the upcoming (and long awaited) KAPEX Miter saw and I thought I'd post it for your viewing pleasure.

Q: How many hold down Clamps can you use at one time?
A:One hold down clamp is provided with the machine. It is recommended to only use one hold down clamp at a time to prevent pinching or binding the blade during the cut.
Q: Where are the lasers mounted and are they adjustable?
A:The lasers are mounted in the forward area of the head above the blade for unencumbered sight lines. Both left and right lasers are fully adjustable with three adjustment points each.
Q: Which dust extraction hoses can I use on it?
A:Both the standard 27mm and the 36mm hose can be used with the Kapex. For best results we recommend using the 36mm hose.
Q: Which dust extractors are recommended for use with the Kapex?
A: We recommend the CT 22 or CT 33 for their capacity and suction force. In addition they should be used with the 36 mm hose. It is possible to use the CT MINI & CT MIDI with the 27 mm hose.
Q: How do you attach the base extensions with crown stops?
A:Installation of the base extensions is a tool-free operation. The extensions mount to the base via the V-groove channel on each side of the saw. Open the mating clamp of the extension and fit it over the V-groove. Tighten the handle. The crown stops mount on the base extensions via a T-slot on the extensions and are fully adjustable.

Q: Do the lasers stay on, or do they only work with the trigger? Do they need batteries?
A:The laser modules are hard-wired into the machine and run of the same power supply as the saw. Plugging the saw into the CT still allows laser usage without triggering AUTO start function. Lasers are activated with a switch. If left unattended for 30 minutes of non-use they will automatically shut down.
Q: What are the miter detents angle settings?
A:The stainless steel etched miter scale features common miter detent settings at 0°, 15°, 22.5°, 30°, & 45°with an additional marking for 31.6°. The Kapex features up to 50°left and 60°right miter range.
Q:Will the Kapex mount to all MFT tables?
A:The Kapex features four 20 mm (3/4”) round rubber feet. These feet engage the indexed grid hole system of the MFT tables with perfect alignment. These same rubber feet make it possible to use the Kapex on several work surfaces as well.
Q: What is the recommended storage and transport position for the saw?
A: The Kapex was designed with storage and transport in mind. The saw can be easily transported by locking the head to the rear with a clamping knob, plunge action locked down with a stop pin, and the saw locked at 60°right miter angle setting. The saw has a handle built into the rear as well as two handles under the base at the V-groove.
Q: What is the length of the warranty of the Kapex? Is there a 30 day satisfaction guarantee?
A:Like all other Festool tools, the Kapex owner enjoys a full 3 year warranty. And just as all other Festool tools, is covered by the 30 day money back guarantee. (See 2008/2009 catalog for details.)
