According to the current front page animation on HitachiPowerTools.com, their HXP Lithium Ion Battery
can live forever: apparently even longer than galapagos tortoises
and Dracula himself:
We get the point. Hitachi claims that HXP batteries will last 1300-1500 charge cycles, three times the average lifespan of NiMH or NiCad batteries. However, DeWalt's new 18v Nano battery
claims a lifetime of 2000+ recharge cycles. However, we should mention this: even if you used a drill so much that it necessitated charging the battery every day, you'd still get use out of it for over four years! And we're guessing the drill itself would have given out long before that milestone can be reached.
lithium ion battery technology is just awesome for power tools.
