 Chances are good that you’ve found yourself searching for a basic tool to solve a basic problem at least once in your life. Unless you carry a toolbox wherever you go, chances are also good that you’ve had to rely on a random something that you found under the seat in your car to solve that basic problem. And let’s face it: while MacGyver would have had no trouble opening a can of beets with a plastic spork and a shoestring, jury rigging ordinary objects into useful tools is probably not your forte. Enter the Leatherman!

At 8.5 ounces and 4 inches long, the Leatherman Wave is pretty portable considering all of the tools packed into it. It serves as a mid-size multi-tool in between smaller Leatherman products like the Kick and the Skeletool and larger ones like the Surge. The Wave definitely has a solid weight to it that makes it feel good in the hand, but it won't weigh you down while you're carrying it.
One notable feature is that the Leatherman Wave allows you to access both knives, the saw and the file without opening the whole tool and with only one hand. All four of these tools are on the outer edges of the handles, and all you have to do release them is stick your thumb into a little groove and push them out. They lock into place securely and can be released and closed back into the handle with one hand just as easily as you can pull them out.
Overall the Leatherman Wave is a very durable and versatile multi-tool. Whether you're camping, hiking, working on a project or just handling small jobs around the house, a Leatherman Wave would be a great companion to have.
