If we can learn anything from DeWalt, Hitachi, Bosch or even Makita,
the actual COLOR of a tool plays a big part in one's decision to buy a
particular brand. Does the standard "golden" finish of Powermatic products
just not do that much for you? Although I would say that it is somewhat reminiscent of the color of a few of the old kitchen applicances I've seen, it's a not a bad color by any means, it's a bit understated and just isn't as BOLD of a color choice as many other modern tools.
If you're in the market to buy a good cabinent saw, I can't imagine that you would choose (or not choose) to purchase one based solely on it's finish color. In cases like this, functionality has to take precendence over form.
So what is a modern bold-color loving woodworker to do?
T hanks to an innovative company in Columbus, Ohio called "Wood Werks Supply Inc", woodworkers can get a customized Powermatic PM2000 cabinet saw made in any color, or combination of colors, you could possibly dream of! Want a PM2000 in fire engine red? No problem. Maybe sky blue would look awesome in your shop? Or maybe purple with orange accents? Maybe not that one..

Not only does Wood Werks Supply let you customize the color of your saw, but you can trick out your custom PM2000 with an exceptionally high-quality (and USA made!) Baldor motor. You also have a choice of a 32" or 50" Fence, and if you go with the 50", you can also choose between a beautiful hardwood workbench or steel with cast iron legs extension table.
To finish things off, you can get customized knobs for the handles and adjustment levers . Solid colors, brushed aluminum, or even beautifully crafted hardwood knobs are options you can choose. A customized nameplate on the front of the saw brags to everyone who sees it, "This Saw Custom Built for _______"
A non-customized Powermatic PM2000 usually goes for about $2-$3,000. A customized version (known as the PM2066) does increase the price somewhat, but if you're ready to drop that much on a standard PM2000 in the first place, why not put in a little extra and get one that was made JUST for you exactly the way you wanted? Of course, if you like the standard Powermatic gold color, you can get a custom PM2000 and still be able to get all of the other customized features offered by Wood Werks.
