Here at Toologics, we love hybrid tools. That's why we really like the Dremel 1800-01 Variable Speed Scroll Saw with Disc sander. And this isn't saw isn't just some novelty-it's got some seriously good features that make it a great addition to your tool collection.
The Dremel 1800 Scroll Saw features a variable-speed motor that delivers 500-1700 strokes per minute that cuts through wood like a hot knife through butter. The controls are mounted on the top, so they're easy to see and operate. An adjustable blower clears the work area of sawdust and an integrated goose neck LED lamp makes it easy to see the line of the cut.
The throat is 18" long, so the Scroll Station can easily handle almost any project. If that depth isn't large enough for your work, you can accommodate larger stock by rotating the blade 90° (perpendicular to the saw) using the aptly-named InfiniteCut™ feature. It's cast-iron frame contributes greatly to the 1800's almost 45lb weight, helping to reduce vibration and therefore helps to increase your accuracy.
Dremel designed the 1800 to be a versatile woodworking tool. Out of the box, you can easily shape or smooth your work with the built-in 5" disc sander attachment. Or, you can disconnect the sander and attach a model 225 flex-shaft Dremel attachment
(available separately) to instantly gain Dremel rotary tool functionality. With the multitude of Dremel rotary bits available, this makes the 1800 Scroll Station one of the most versatile woodworking tools ever.
So is there anything bad about the 1800? Sadly yes. Dremel recently discontinued it. However, Tool King has a bunch of factory-reconditioned Dremel Scroll Station 1800s for only $169.99 . But act fast! When they're gone, they're gone!
