Specialty Saws
Silky makes a number of specialty saws, some for fine
woodworking and some for heavy outdoor woodworking.
Let’s look at one of the finer saws first:
The light-duty 396-21 HIBIKI 210 Fine
Teeth saw has two sides, one for ripping and the other for
cross-cutting.
According to Silky Saws, the
saw “leaves silky smooth surface after cutting and can rip-cut, cross-cut and
slant-cut.”
The blade has 19 teeth per
inch, and is taper-ground chrome-plated to allow a fluid, straight cut as teeth
are actually wider than mirror polished blade.
This is a perfect tool for cabinetmakers, hobbyists, or anyone who needs
a fine cut on light wood.
The specialty saws for heavier working are exemplified by the
Silky Saws 303-18
CAMAKIRI 180 Double Edge.
If this
saw looks different, yet slightly familiar, you may recognize the basis for
this saw in the sickle.
The Camakiri
goes way beyond a simple knock-off however.
It’s a light-duty clearing tool for bushes, trees and shrubs, and comes
in two flavors, single-edged and double-edged blade.
Think of cutting your neighbor’s overgrown
grass with the Camakiri, which slices through light materials like butter!
