sc_55225beltsander.jpgAre you looking for a great deal on an oscillating belt sander for under $2K? Rick Peil from the ToolKing Superstore in Lakewood, Colorado let me in on his latest and greatest, it's the Steel City 55225 Belt Sander. Ideal for the small workshop, the Steel City 55225 comes standard with a 3 horsepower, single phase motor with magnetic starter switch and a 1/4 horsepower single phase DC conveyor motor. With a built-in extendable side and Outfeed table, this belt sander provides ample work support for oversized pieces.

The Steel City 55225 is completely adjustable from the table to the belt to the tracking. It also has a dust hood that is integrated into the chamber to extract dust through the cabinet and away from your workpiece for superior dust collection. Unlike larger wide Belt sanders, no air is required because the Steel City 55225 belt sander has mechanical oscillation. And finally, like the new Delta 31-260X drum sander, the Steel City 55225 has an onboard storage cabinet which gives generous space for extra belts, Wrenches and other belt sander accessories.

I have this sander and the tracking is tough to get right. 10 mins to adjust is what the manual says. Its take me up to an hour to get this right. Also the belt coupler that ties the motor to the belt became loose at some point and had to be replaced because it got chewed up. once the sander is running its great. much better than the powermax sanders that are out there. if you do a lot of sanding then you might want to setup if you are production shop, for me being a one man shop this is ok.

So hard to get tensioned right. The belt is adjusted by a knob which is way too sensitive! It works good after putting in numerous hours getting setup right. It can take me over an hour too to get right. Overall its a pain and I wish that I had an easier to use sander
