Folks, the Association of
Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers Fair is happening in Vegas this
July 18th through the 21st. Get your
tickets now because we at toologics.com heard some promising news about some upcoming
tools that will be released for the first time at this show. This is the 50th Anniversary of this event,
so it promises to be a great time for all kinds of visitors, from pro
woodworkers to do-it-yourselfers.
This year’s host is Richard Karn, also known as Al Borland; Tim
"The Toolman" Taylor's
sidekick on Home Improvement. This
section of the fair features a full buffet, open bar and a ceremony celebrating
some of the field’s most successful companies and even a student woodworking
competition. Plus, if you buy tickets
soon you’ll automatically be entered into the “My Woodworking Show
community” where you can look for items online and arrange to meet with
manufacturer reps and help plan your time at the show. There’s a ton
of vendors represented at the fair this year, so getting your tickets early
should be high on your list.
There will be all-day workshops and 16 “SMART” (that stands
for Special Machinery and Relevant Technology) workshops ranging from helping
you with a finishing project to using a computer to help with cutlists. All this and a belt sander race where
competitors race on a 75-foot long wooden track with their “customized belt
sander racing machines.” This sounds like a lot of news, new tools and entertainment all in one place.
