bd_vpx.jpgBlack & Decker just introduced their new VPX Lithium Ion System. This 7volt lithium ion battery system encompasses more than just power tools. Black & Decker has included electronic and household products into their VPX Lithium Ion line such as a battery, dustbuster, inflator, and power supply for camping, the car, etc.

The power tools featured in the line include a screwdriver, cutsaw and drill/driver, all powered by a 7v Lithium Ion VPX Battery. The nice feature of the system is that one battery can be interchanged with all the products in the Black & Decker VPX Lithium Ion line. The downside is that it is only a 7volt system so you won't get a ton of torque out of the power tools. The VPX cutsaw is more like a jigsaw than a sawzall, features a tool free blade change and accepts standard jigsaw blades. The 2VPX Drill/Driver uses 2-7v batteries to torque it up to a 14v tool and features a metal single sleeve keyless chuck (3/8") with improved gripping areas.

For the homeowner, the Black & Decker VPX Lithium Ion System is a well thought out product line. We look forward to seeing what products they will add.

I PURCHASED A BLACK & DECKER VPX STARTER SET AND WAS IMPRESSED WITH THE TOOLS. THE ONLY DOWNSIDE I COULD FIND WAS THAT THEY DID NOT COME WITH A PRMANENT CARRYING CASE. WELL I DID SOMETHING ABOUT THAT AND DESIGNED A VERSATILE CASE THAT HOLDS THE STARTER SET AND MUCH MORE. CHECK OUT MY PLANS FOR THE CASE AT MY Web SITE WWW.PLUGINTOMYPLANS.COM

If anyone else needs some of these, Home Depot is already closing them out- which in my mind does not say much for the tools.
