Milwaukee has a cool new tool
out called the Tilt-Lok Circular saw (model 6390-21). According to
their website, "The eight position cushioned top handle
adjusts to any cutting application maximizing comfort and
control." This sounds like a great idea, especially when
cutting something at chest height or higher, as the tilt would make
it much easier to handle and push through the wood. Instead of
forcing the cut downward as in a standard circular saw, you can
easily adjust the handle to behind the saw, removing the
awkwardness of being over your cut.
Milwaukee also claims that the saw will last
eight times longer
than comparable saws. They also assert that the
saw is the lightest in its class (10.4 pounds), and thus can be
used longer and with less strain. The saw will bevel up to 50
degrees and comes with a blade, case and a wrench. The saw is even
available with extra features, including an optional Quik-Lok cord,
and a lefty-friendly
version.
The saw will cut 2-7/16" at 90 deg.,
1-13/16" at 45 deg., 1-11/16" at 50 deg., and a spindle lock, soft
grip handle, and adjustable handle. It sounds like a great saw, and
I can't wait to try it out when I get my hands on one. Father's
Day anyone?
