Ever wonder how to fix that scratched CD? Polish the dull film off your car headlamps? Inexpensively remove dents from your car?
Some of the tool you may already have sitting in your garage may be exactly what you need!
The following is what folks have submitted to be the Top Ten List of Unusual Fixes Using Power Tools.
1. Brian Mark from Toolbarn fixes scratches on a CD using a cordless Dremel rotary tool and the felt wheels attachment: http://blogs.toolbarn.com/brianm/2006/02/fixing-scratched-cds.html " When I had a CD that was annoying me, I grabbed the rotary tool and put a felt wheel on it. I found that by going overboard, it was possible to actually melt the plastic on either side of the scratch and smooth it over the scratched area. Even some of the really deep scratches could be fixed this way. I don't recommend this for a simple "surface scratch", but something that won't play any longer and is going to the trash anyway can't be damaged any worse in my opinion."
2. Lee Berg of Louisville, Colorado removes the crud from the bottom of his lawn mower with a wire brush attachment to a Makita Cordless Drill.
3. Remove dents from your car using a Heat Gun and a can of Compressed Air:
4. Justine Przemielewski of Buffalo, NY cleans very dirty bathroom tile with Scotch Brite attached to a Fein MultiMaster.
5. Monica Bruce of Orchard Park, NY buffs out her vehicle (after hand waxing) with terry cloths rags cut to size to fit her Bosch Palm Sander.
6. Zach Weinman from ToolKing recommends "If you have an old, heavy motorcycle with a dead battery or broken starter, you can start it by removing the points/ignition control cover and spinning it with an Chicago Pneumatic Impact Wrench or power drill with the appropriate socket".
7. Jules Bruff of Los Angeles, California buffs the cloudy finish out of her car headlights with a Bosch Palm Sander and very fine grade sandpaper.
8. Tyrel Johnson of Gladewater, Texas was threatened with a DeWalt Pneumatic Framing Nailer by his neighbor to "turn down your music or else"!
9. Nicole Jamrose of Dyer, Indiana found herself entertaining guests with a broken blender. "The motor must have just died so I found an bit attachment that would fit the mixing jug, revved up my husbandsDeWalt Power Drill and mixed up Frozen Daiquiries for my guests."
10. Chainsaw Trombone Vehicle How better to spend a Sunday afternoon as at a junk yard where some tinkerers have build race cars out of old power tools. My favorite was the one to the left. It uses an old chain saw engine and in place of an exhaust pipe he attached a trombone.
What unusual 'fix' have you used a Power Tool for? Email us and we'd love to add your idea to our Upcoming Top Ten List.
I really enjoyed reading the Unusual Fixes section. I look forward to reading more of these sometime. I accidently rated it four stars I meant to rate it 5.

I don't know if it works on hail size damaged dents. It's cheap enough to try it though. Please let us know if you do!
