I've compiled a list via the good folks at Lumberjocks.com of their Top Ten Tools for the Woodworking Shop. In case you've never heard of Lumberjocks.com, it is a Woodworkers Forum made up of the friendliest bunch of people since the Walton's. If you are a professional woodworker, hobbyist or even just a wannabee like me, you will enjoy all that Lumberjocks has to offer.
Here's what the Lumberjocks like in their Woodworking Shops and why:
1. I’m a weekend lumberjock and I’d have to say my Bessey UniKlamps have proven to be a good friend thus far. -Keen1
2. I’d be lost without my digital vernier caliper gauge. -Yorkshirestewart
3. I don’t know if it’s my best friend or not, but I find myself reaching for my combination square every time I work on a project. I also feel warm and cuddly when I get near my cordless drill too. -cajunpen
4. I always have my 12’ tape measure on my pocket. -Dadoo
5. My best friend is a dead blow hammer. -Tom
6. I’d have to say my dust collector and other safety gear. Without it woodworking wouldn’t be as enjoyable if I had sawdust in my face and lungs and eyes. Without my ear muffs I wouldn’t be able to hear the birds singing outside inbetween cuts, either. -oscorner
7. I couldn’t live without my Irwin quick release clamps. And I just bought some of the Xtra strength ones yesterday which is very exciting to me. I need to see a shrink I think. -Chip
8. Double bevel marking knife, 4” and 6” squares, a 16’ tape, my chisels and saws, a carvers mallet are some of my favorites – couldn’t join without ‘em! -Dorje
9. My 6 inch diagonal pliers. I’m always pulling nails and staples when fixing my mess ups. -Dennis Mitchell
10. My latest gadget that i got that I thought was pretty cool is a Bobsrule tape measure. For those that never heard of this, it is a measuring system someone came up with for woodworking . It's kind of a cross between metric and our standard system. I think you can find it at: www.Bobsrule.com -MrTrim
