We recently received some samples of the new Bosch Xtra-Clean for Wood jigsaw blades and had Rick Peil, our resident tool expert, give 'em a whirl. These blades feature a special tooth design that cuts on both up and down strokes, which is supposed to leave you with a cleaner cut (according to Bosch). Here's what Rick had to say about them:
"The
wood blades provided an almost effortless cut. I was truly amazed at
the cutting performance (speed/finish) during rip and crosscuts.
During the crosscuts, I experienced little to no chipping on the top of
the cut and I wasn’t even using a zero clearance insert. I also found
it interesting that my cuts where I was turning the jigsaw to cut a
profile were smoother than the rip cuts. Great blades. By the way, I
was making cuts in red oak and I was using a Bosch 1590EVSK Jig Saw."
Sounds like Bosch has a winner!
