makita2704.jpgLet me tell you why I ended up choosing the Makita 2704 10" Table Saw. First, like most 10" table saws, the 2704 has a 15-amp motor. This particular table saw has the capacity to rip four times the material in a single pass.. The Makita 2704 also has a right-wing extension, which when fully extended, allows you to rip a full sheet of plywood. But those are not the only excellent features of this fine table saw...

The Makita 2704 has an extremely accurate Fence. The saw features a dead-on cam locking rip fence and bevel-locking handle for fast and easy adjustments. This fence is sturdy and smooth as well, with predrilled holes for an auxiliary fence.

I also liked the onboard storage of Makita 2704. It is well thought-out with a place for everything from the fence to the push stick. The Makita 2704 table saw is also light enough to tote, with beveled handles built into the sides for better handling. I suggest however that you add the 2704 onto a Gravity-Rise table stand. That way you can transport the table saw to any jobsite easily, safely and securely.

Safety features of the Makita 2704 include an electric brake, a blade guard and a very large, easy to reach OFF button.

You can get a reconditioned Makita 2704 at Toolking.com for only $279.

I have that saw and I would only recommend using it with the Makita table saw stand. Compared to the Bosch table saw and stand, everyone who has used my saw likes it better (except for one Bosch fanatic). The Makita has struts that help in raising and lowering the saw, the 5 different height positions allow anyone from about 5'5" to well over 6' tall adjust the saw to a comfortable position easily (the struts help) AND when collapsed, the Makita takes up less room in my garage than the Bosch. Neither one has large enough wheels to make rolling up steps easy or smooth enough to prevent picking up dirt or mud and bringing it into the jobsite. I also think that the stock Makita blade has an edge in quality. I have sharpened mine and have seen no decrease in smoothness of operation.
