I have been in the market for a more accurate table saw. I am looking at the Sawstop Contractor saw for the obvious safety reasons along with their reputation for quality saws. The price is much more than other contract saws and comparable to a good number of good quality cabinet saws. The selling point for cabinet saws are known for their stability, accuracy and dust collection. I understand the SS contractor saws dust collection is not perfect, but pretty good. On the subject of (assuming I get the SS T-glade Fence system) can I get the accuracy of a cabinet saw (good enough for cabinet making cuts)? And how well does the SS Contractor saw hold its alignment once tuned as compared to a quality cabinet saw? -Dale

Thanks for the inquiry.

Firstly, I would like to say that I personally own a SawStop Cabinet Saw and I have also done several demos on both the cabinet and contractor’s saws. Obviously, SawStop released the contractor’s saw for use with contractors on jobsites. SawStop’s focus is on safety in the shop and now on the jobsite. By the way, it is certainly easier to move a 250 pound contractor’s saw from jobsite to jobsite than a 650+ pound cabinet saw.
