Bosch PS50 Multi-X

For those of you who read Jude's little teaser for the Bosch PS50 back in September, the wait is finally over.  I have in my hands right now, the most innovative new tool I have had the pleasure of using in some time.   I have seriously spent the last half hour just fiddling with the Bosch PS50 Multi-X Tool.  And trust me, if/when you get a half hour to do the same, you really won't want to limit yourself to just those 30 minutes.

If you have ever used one of the Fein MultiMasters, you know just how great of a tool they are.  The Bosch PS50 Multi-X is Bosch's answer to the MultiMasters, and they do it in a little 12V Litheon cordless package.  Yup, that's right... a 12V battery.  I know what you're thinking, and let me assure you that the 12V Bosch battery is more than enough to power this guy.  Not only that, but we took a 10.8V Bosch battery and it is interchangeable with the 12V that comes with the PS50 kit.  And even that 10.8V battery got me through enough cuts on a piece of wood that I finally had to quit cutting and come tell you all about this tool.

With a variable speed of 5,000-20,000 OPM, the PS50's blades cut through wood and metal like butter, and sands the roughest surface to a smooth finish quickly and easily, all at the speed necessary for the job, and at the comfortable speed you desire.  The quick-charger will completely re-charge a battery in 30 minutes flat, allowing you to keep working throughout the entire project.  Cutting, sanding, buffing, scraping, sawing, or even polishing is actually fun with the Bosch PS50.  Plus, with the small size of the tool as a whole, you can get into those tough to reach spots that are the ultimate bane of any tool user.

One of the most notable aspects of the Bosch PS50 Multi-X Tool is it's versatility.  Not just in the tool and it's accessories available from Bosch themselves, but an adapter allows you to attach and use the massive array of Fein blades and accessories.  The folks at Bosch are planning on rolling out a bunch of accessories to accompany the release of the PS50, but with the attachment to allow the use of Fein accessories, the list of uses for this tool expands even more so.

Here's a short video we produced about the Bosch PS50:

I was able to steal this from Jake as he was not looking, and I tell you what, that is one nice oscillating tool. A lot better feel in your hand than the MultiMaster. I love the Fein, but I can afford the Bosch, lol! smilies/cool.gif

Battery life.......
Any comments on battery life?

I read somewhere they only got an 8 minute runtime out of one fully charged battery. I was worried about that before reading it, but Im wondering if it was just a fluke thing.

How long did the batteries last for you guys?

Thanks.

The battery life hasn't been an issue as far as we know and can tell. Sometimes individual batteries has issues or are defective, but that's how it can be with any piece of machinery. But the battery life seems to be just fine smilies/smiley.gif

Gotta go with the fein because it has every attachment and it came out first! and cordless tools are great till you run out of batteries and have to wait for them to charge to get the job done.

bosch ps50
just bought the bosch ps 50 and I love it. the only problem I have with it is the battery life...it's very short. I used it for about 20 mins before I had to use the second battery...the 30 mins charge helps but it's a pain.
