TimberTech Composite Deck Products

timbertechThis year while researching deck ideas over the holidays, I found a manufacturers website TimberTech.com which has some useful deck building ideas and tools like this interactive quiz show in the photo. TimberTech.com has a myriad of ideas from design tools to installation suggestions including the quick deck post and products ranging from traditional composite decking to ultra-low maintenance PVC planks; from best-in-class railing and award-winning lighting systems to composite fencing.

For my deck situation where I need to add structurally strong posts and rails to an existing wood deck, I like the Secure Mount Post product. This post is designed for cases where a deck rail needs to be added directly to a concrete or wood deck and there’s no existing structural post. It consists of a steel post and base plate that are bolted directly to the deck, plus two polypropylene blocks that fit over the post. The top block can be set for a 36- or 42-inch railing height. A 4x4 TimberTech sleeve slips over the blocks and is fastened with standard fasteners. TimberTech states that the post is tested for a 500-pound design load and has an anticorrosion coating that outperforms standard galvanizing. For 50 bucks it's worth a look if it fills a need for you.

TimberTech composite decking products come with a 25-year limited residential warranty. TimberTech’s warranty offers 25-years of coverage, that isn’t pro-rated, for residential installations. And their warranty can be transferred to a second homeowner – a great selling feature when you’re ready to relocate. For more info: www.timbertech.com
