RECALL NOTICE: Ryobi Corded Circular Saws

Ryobi corded circular saws sold at the Home Depot with the model numbers CSB123, CSB133L and CSB142LZ are being recalled due to a flaw that can cause the return spring on the lower blade guard to break, posing a risk of laceration.  The saws in question were sold in October and November 2008 exclusively at Home Depot stores.  About 12,400 of them were sold.

How to determine whether or not your saw has been recalled - If your Ryobi CSB123, CSB133L or CSB142LZ has a green dot on the package and on or near the data plate, it has already been fixed and is not being recalled.  However, if it does not have a green dot and has a manufacturing date code between 0836 and 0842, it has been recalled and you need to stop using it immediately.  You can find the manufacturing date code on the data plate near the trigger handle, as seen in this photo:

If your saw has been recalled, contact One World Technologies Inc. at (800) 525-2579 between 8AM and 5PM ET Monday through Friday or visit www.ryobitools.com to schedule a free repair at your nearest service center.  Also, please visit the CPSC website to view the whole recall notice with photos.

DEWALT Recalls Cordless Brad Nailers Due to Injury Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with DeWalt Tools, today announced a voluntary recall of the DeWalt DC608K cordless brad nailer. The nailer can operate when the lock-off (safety) is in the locked position. Also, the nailer can operate when the trigger is not pulled and the contact trip is depressed. The unexpected ejection of a nail can pose a serious injury hazard to consumers. Although DeWALT has received two reports of nailers operating when the lock-off (safety) was in the locked position, fortunately no injuries have been reported.
