Senco Finish Nailer 32 Review

sencofinish32.jpgI have taken my new Senco Finish Nailer 32 out of the molded plastic box, charged up the battery and spent some time trying it out. For a finish nailer, I am psyched to have this cordless model which eliminates the task of dragging out my compressor and hose. This simple feature, battery powered, makes for a very convenient nailer to take on remodeling jobs, work around the house with or use it to finish up projects.

The Senco Finish 32 weighs 7 pounds, just slightly heavier than my Bostitch pneumatic SB-1664 finish nailer. It is also quieter, with just a small pop of the nail noise and then the whrrr of the battery - no compressor charging it's motor in the background and no hose to drag around. The Senco Cordless Finish 32 seems perfect for remodeling, trim or touch-up work, big jobs or small and can drive 750, 3/4 inch to 2-1/2 inch 16 gauge straight finish nails per battery charge. It has what Senco calls an EZ-Clear Latch that quickly clears any nail jams should they occur.

The Senco Finish 32 has a comfortable handle with a rubber grip and a trigger in just the right place. It comes with plastic belt hook that seems only somewhat durable and a plastic housing that seems very durable. A depth of drive dial is on the back of the nailer which also sets the actuation to either contact or sequential mode firing. It fires almost as fast as a pneumatic nailer; I would say that it takes about 2 seconds for each firing which is about as fast as I move when I'm nailing finish work. Senco also includes their standard 2 year warranty on the Finish 32 Nailer.

The only feature that was missing on this nailer is a safety lock, you have to take off the battery or empty the magazine or it's easy to hit the trigger and fire a nail by mistake. Here's an interesting note that was included with my Senco Nailer: NiCad batteries often require 3 to 4 recharge cycles to achieve maximum output. Expect peak performance from this tool following the 4th recharge. I did not know that about NiCad batteries so I hope you find this tidbit of information useful too. Included in the Senco Finish 32 plastic molded case are the nailer, 2-14.4volt NiCad batteries and a one-hour charger, no mar tip and instruction manual.

Toolking also has a great deal on the Senco FramePro 502 Full Round Head Framing Nailer for $149.99. This pneumatic framing nailer features a lightweight aluminum body and drives 2" to 3-1/2" smooth shank nails and 2" to 3" ring shank nails.
