Specifically designed for the drywall contractors, acoustical contractors, carpenters, plaster contractors, maintenance contractors, and general contractors seeking a solid drywall screwgun, Makita just released three new drywall screwdrivers, models FS2200 (2,500 RPM), FS4200 (4,000 RPM) and FS6200 (6,000 RPM).
Typical features to look for in a drywall screwgun are variable speed and reversible motor and autofeed system, adjustable torque settings, RPM and amperage of motor, plastic or metal clutch housing and adjustable clutches. But the key feature to look for in drywall screwdrivers is a depth gauge so you don't drive the screws too deep and rip the drywall paper. All three of the new Makita drywall screwgun models come with an adjustable depth locator assembly with Sure-Lock, which is specifically designed for consistent screw depth driving.
Makita's new drywall screwdrivers are all powered by a 6.0 AMP motor. The FS2200 drywall screwdriver delivers 2,500 RPM and weighs just 3.5 pounds. The FS4200 drywall screwdriver delivers 4,000 RPM and weighs 2.9 pounds, while the FS6200 delivers 6,000 RPM and also weighs just 2.9 pounds.
Features include an adjustable depth locator assembly with Sure-Lock™ which is engineered for consistent screw depth, and a large variable speed trigger with lock-on button which is designed for continuous use. Each drywall gun has an ergonomically-designed grip for increased comfort and a cast aluminum gear housing for less weight and increased durability. And of course, Makita added an L.E.D. light to illuminate your work surface. Other convenience features include a depth locator holder for convenient storage during framing applications, and bit storage on the base of the grip to reduce downtime.
The FS4200 is also available with a 50 foot standard cord (FS4200A) and a 50 foot twist lock (FS4200TP). The FS6200 is also available with a 50 foot twist-lock (FS6200TP).
”Makita’s new drywall gun line-up features the most compact and lightweight drywall guns on the market,” said Anthony Corwin, product manager, commercial products. “The increased ergonomics combined with several unique features make these a top choice for drywall applications.” Corded screw guns are preferred by many drywall installers simply because they are lighter than the cordless models which can cause hand and arm fatigue when working for longer periods of time.
Other available drywall screwdrivers from Makita include the 6825 variable speed reversible drywall screwdriver for $59,, the cordless BFS450Z 18-Volt LXT drywall screwdriver, available for $199, and the factory reconditioned 6824N variable speed 6.5amp reversible drywall screwdriver, available at Toolking.com for $60.
