Folks have been raving about thiis product from all over the internet world. They state that the Rockwell RK9000 Jawhorse can be your second hand man on the jobsite or a portable workbench for the apartment dweller. Supposedly it replaces workbenches, sawhorses, clamps, and bench vises as a all-in-one workstation. Rockwell states that the Jawhorse will clamp virtually anything you can imagine.
You be the judge though. Features of Rockwell's Jawhorse include: trademarked hands-free foot pedal that will allow you to compress the jaws to over 2,200 pounds; foldable, compact base that has a built in wheel for portability; steel construction, large clamping range, and a tripod base for stability, making it easy to balance on uneven terrain.
The Jawhorse features a trademarked hands-free foot pedal that lets you apply up to one metric ton (2,200 pounds) of force, so you don't have to worry about materials slipping while you work. And the jaws can be opened up to 37-inches wide, which is enough to hold most doors securely in place. A variety of different saws can be locked into the sturdy jaws on this station, allowing you to make precise cuts quickly and safely. Patented rubber pads help keep you from denting or scratching wood.
When not in use, the 43 pound Jawhorse workstation folds down to a compact 29x14x13 inches for easy transport or storage in a small closet. Available accessories include: a welding jaw, chainsaw jaw for sharpening, and saddlebags for tool storage. The plywood jaw accessory can be used to adapt the Jawhorse for large sheet goods up to 52-inches wide, or set up the Jawhorse as a reliable miter saw station or a more permanent work table.
Review from CG King:
"This is a quality item and well worth the price. It has already allowed me to do certain jobs that would otherwise not have been possible for me, or not terribly safe. I find it very stable and easy to use. It sets up and folds down efficiently. It's a bit heavy, but needs to be for stability."
Updated 1/3/09:
"I continue to use and value this piece of equipment. I've added the LogJaw which I use at least weekly to turn fallen sticks from my trees into tight kindling bundles for the fireplace (squeeze them together in the vice and tie with twine) and cut up branches. I've used the JawHorse to hold up the other end of a 16' fence board for fence repair, something I was unable to do alone before getting this thing. I've noted that the little transport wheel works great on pavement, but is too small to roll well in loose gravel so I transport it in my wagon as it's a bit heavy for me to carry. I've been using it so often, I leave it set up most of the time, just covered with a tarp."
