Striker's Magnetic LED Light: The Adorable Illuminator

Ok, so maybe that headline is a little cheesy, but it's not entirely off-base.  Resembling a tiny bumble ball, the bright red-orange Striker Magnetic LED Light could certainly be described as a cute product.  But while it may not look serious, its design is actually pretty ingenious and surprisingly functional.  Keep reading for a quick review of this unique product!

The keys to the design of the Striker Magnetic LED Light are the twelve powerful magnets positioned all over its surface.  These magnets give you hands-free light whenever you're near some metal and allow you to point the device's LED light wherever you need it.  It's a simple, clever design that works great; the light is more than bright enough for most indoors and close-quarters applications, and I was surprised at the number of different angles that I could point the light.  It feels well constructed and durable in your hand, though I would probably try to avoid dropping it onto concrete from several feet up.  A broken Striker Magnetic LED Light would be sad, not adorable!

Because of its diminutive size, the Striker Magnetic LED Light would fit nicely in a tool box, glove compartment, drawer, cabinet or--as suggested by Striker--on your refrigerator, giving you an easily accessible flashlight whenever you need it.  It would be great as a light for an emergency car repair, freeing up your hands to fix what needs fixing instead of trying to hold onto a flashlight and perform the repair at the same time.  Striker also suggests that you could use its magnets to retrieve screws, nails, etc. from tight spaces if necessary, but if a screw has dropped beyond your reach, you'll likely be better off with an extendable magnetic pickup wand.

I only had one small issue with the Striker Magnetic LED Light: the tag dangling off of it had a habit of getting in the way of the magnets as I repositioned the light, inhibiting its ability to cling to the metal surface I was using it on.  Of course, this is easily fixed by removing the tag.

The Striker Magnetic LED Light is powered by three button cell batteries and retails for $6.99 to $7.99.  You can check it out on Striker's website at www.strikerhandtools.com where they have a great demo video of the product.
