| lathe | A lathe is a turning machine used to make bowls, chair legs, spindles and other objects. The workpiece is placed on a spindle and is carved with a cutting knife while it spins.

| Level | a process used in surveying to measure relative heights.

| Levels | Levels are layout tools used for measuring horizontal and vertical effects. Levels come in many different sizes from small 6 inch to 8 ft. extension levels. Features to look for in a level include durable construction (able to be dropped without breaking), accuracy, size and type necessary for job (ie:strut alignment levels for automotive use), digital versus manual, and straight versus orbital.

| lithium ion battery | A rechargeable battery with one of the best energy-to-weight ratios. This type of battery has no memory effect, which means that they don't hold less charge over time. They also have a slow loss of charge when not in use. One of the latest uses is in hybrid electric cars.
